FAQ

Contract

How do I become a customer of Brusol Energy?
I have a Brusol Energy contract, but I am moving house. What do I need to do?

If you are selling the house where the panels were installed by Brusol, please inform us before signing the deed of sale and provide the purchaser's contact details so that we can contact him/her.
With regard to your energy supply contract (Brusol NRJ), we request that you hand over the completed and signed handover form to the new buyer during the inspection of the property.

When can I change suppliers?

At any time, but you must observe a notice period of one month between the request for activation of the contract and the actual departure date.

If I change suppliers, do I have to pay a cancellation fee?

No, there are no cancellation fees, even if you do not respect the end date of the contract.

Where and when can I charge?

Where can I find an EnergyDrive charge point?

The map on our app shows you all the charging stations in your area. On the map, you can filter the charging stations to suit your type of electric vehicle.

Can I charge anywhere with my EnergyDrive charging card?

Yes, our charging card works at many charging stations, both at home and abroad. However, we can only guarantee the cheapest rates at our own charging stations. For non-owned charging stations, the rate depends on the CPO and MSP that manage the charging station.

Can I charge abroad with my EnergyDrive charging card?

The EnergyDrive charging card gives you access to tens of thousands of charging stations throughout Europe. The EnergyDrive charging card is connected to the following platforms, among others, via several interoperability agreements:

  • Girève
  • e-Clearing
Are the ultrafast chargers available 24/7?

Yes. At EnergyDrive charging stations with ultra-fast chargers, you have 24/7 access and facilities: you can have a quiet coffee or go to the toilet while your car is charging.

About the Brusol solution

How is this possible? What are Green Certificates ("GSC")?

Brusol installs free panels and recovers its investment via green power certificates (GSC) and through the electricity we send to our electric charging stations.

What are these certificates?

Well, when you invest in green electricity (and thus reduce CO2 emissions) in the Brussels Capital Region, you get such certificates. In Flanders and Wallonia the GSC system has been greatly reduced, but in Brussels it remains in force. Brusol sells these certificates on the market to energy suppliers. This allows us to install the system for you free of charge.

So you receive 100% free electricity with a 0% investment and do your bit for the environment. Easy, right?

Who can benefit?

Our free solar panels are available to all property owners in the Brussels Region.

After your registration, we will check your roof with satellite images and contact you to inform you about the feasibility.

How capable are you?

Brusol is a project of EnergyVision, market leader in the Brussels Region and active on the international market through offices in China and Morocco.
With Brusol, you choose for a worry-free solution, high quality and sincere respect during the entire duration of the agreement. All this without having to pay a single euro for the solar installation!

When is my roof suitable?

There are, of course, a number of things we have to take into account before we install the system at your premises. We install on both flat and sloping roofs. This in eastern, southern and western orientation.

It is important that your roof is shadow-free. A chimney, velux, windows, trees or a high building further down the street are some of the common obstacles. Finally, we need to be sure that your roof is in good condition. Check here whether your roof is suitable!

What is the 'fast track' of Brusol?

The Brusol 'fast track' allows you to enter an accelerated process. After filling in your details on our contact page, you can choose 'fast track'. You can then immediately book an appointment at our showroom in Brussels (avenue Laarbeeklaan 74, 1090 Jette). There, our technical experts will give you a detailed explanation. Together with you, we will go through all the details of the contract. You can sign the contract on the spot, or you can do this quietly afterwards when you are at home.

If your roof does not qualify for free solar panels, we will inform you and cancel the appointment.

Hassle (administration, maintenance, etc.)

What administration is involved in my application?

Our team is ready to deal with all administration. We take care of the whole thing. In practice, it goes like this: we look at your roof in detail, we visit you and go over the contract together, we plan the next steps together, and we take care of all the underlying paperwork. We also take the necessary steps with an independent inspector to obtain the certificate of conformity and with Sibelga to order the two-way meter.

What maintenance work do I need to do?

Brusol takes care of your installation during the entire duration of the agreement. So you can enjoy your solar panels carefree! No maintenance costs, no monitoring and no costs in case of damage (unless you start knocking on our panels yourself, of course).

What is needed for the installation?

Absolutely nothing (you do have to open the door for our installers, for the inspector and for the men from Sibelga who are coming to replace your meter). After the installation has been installed on your premises (which usually takes one day), we guarantee free monitoring, maintenance and insurance for the entire installation. The productivity of your installation is monitored 24/7 via our own monitoring system, summarised in the Brusol monthly report that you receive. As well as in your 'MyBrusol' account

How often should I be available?

The productivity of your installation is monitored 24/7 via our own monitoring system.
Annual maintenance is therefore not necessary. If our monitoring system indicates a failure, we will contact you to check the installation.

Do I have to clean these panels every year?

No, it is not necessary to clean them yourself. The panels clean themselves for the most part due to the slanted arrangement of the panels and the protective layer. Moreover, in Belgium there is sufficient rainfall so that no extra cleaning is needed. If a noticeable drop in yield is identified, we schedule a maintenance and cleaning session.

Do I have to inform my energy supplier or other parties?

After your appointment with Sibelga to change the meter, your appointment with us for the installation and your appointment with the independent inspector for the certificate, your energy supplier will automatically be notified by Sibelga.

Since 2020, there has been an obligation of environmental contributions in the Region. What is that exactly?

Yes, there is a compulsory and legal environmental contribution on solar panels installed on roofs in the Region (in the same way as there is an environmental contribution on batteries and electrical appliances). EnergyVision has long been a member of PV Cycle, the association responsible for recycling solar panels. This means that this environmental contribution is automatically paid by EnergyVision. Two advantages for Brusol customers: you are in full legal compliance (because the environmental contribution is paid by us) and if you ever have the solar panels removed from your roof, they are processed and recycled free of charge: no surprises for you, no taxes or fines, and you certainly do not have to take them to the container park!

Can I buy the solar panels so that I become the owner?

It is simpler that Brusol remains the owner, but it is indeed possible to buy the installation. The price formula for this is stated in the agreement.

Can I dissolve the contract?

You can cancel the agreement free of charge up to 14 days after signing. After this period and with the installation already placed, you will have to pay us, as mentioned in the agreement, a break-up fee (which will cover the loss of the green certificates for the remaining time and the dismantling).

What happens to the installation after the contract period?

After 30 years, you become the owner of the installation. After 30 years, the panels still have an efficiency of at least 80%. So you can enjoy production for many years to come.

Do I have to inform my insurer about your solar panels?

Yes, it is important to provide your insurer with a copy of the signed Brusol agreement so that they are aware of it. Please note that we own the installation and pay insurance for the entire installation. In principle, your insurance premium will therefore not be increased. However, we cannot guarantee this as it varies from one insurer to another and exactly what is included in your insurance policy.

What happens to my installation when I move?

If you are moving but remain the owner, your tenant will benefit from the panels.
If you are moving because you are selling, it is necessary that you give us the details of the new owner before you sign the deed. That way, we can contact the new owner to inform them of the terms of the agreement.

The savings

How much will this earn me?

Your energy bill will undoubtedly drop. Click here to make an estimate.

But what if later on there will be taxes, like excise duties or levies or other things?

The Brussels Region has already formally confirmed on several occasions that there will be none (as long as they do not meet their environmental targets, of course). But what is even more important for you is that if taxes are ever imposed on your installation, we will pay them. This is something we agree on together and is set out in our contract.

How can I save more with my solar panels?

The more you use self-consumption (immediate use of production), the less electricity you demand from the grid and the more you save.
It is therefore recommended that appliances such as washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers be run during the day when the panels are producing.

Technical information

What is a solar panel?

A solar panel is also called a "photovoltaic module" ("PV") in the jargon. A PV system consists of solar cells. These convert sunlight into electricity, in the form of direct current. This direct current travels from cell to cell and from panel to panel. It finally arrives at the inverter.

What is an inverter?

The inverter then converts this direct current into alternating current so that the generated energy can be used. After all, electrical appliances only work with alternating current.

What is a production meter?

A green meter (or production meter) measures the electricity generated by the panels. Using a 4G card plugged into the meter, we receive the production index every day. This enables us to detect any malfunctions in the system immediately and take action quickly.

What is a two-way meter?

In Brussels, the law states that a meter may not reverse. Solar panel installations therefore require a bi-directional (smart) meter to measure separately the energy taken from the grid and any surplus injected. So there is an injection index (what is sent to the grid) and a consumption index (what is taken from the grid).
Brusol takes care of all the administrative procedures for ordering the bidirectional meter from Sibelga. And at the appropriate time, we will contact you to schedule an appointment with him to replace the meter, which must be replaced before we can schedule the installation.

Which solar panels and inverters do you use?

Click here to learn more about our products in detail.
Our solar panels guarantee a top yield. This is the only way we can earn back our investment. It is simple: if our products are not of high quality, they will not produce any power, you will not save anything, we will not generate any certificates and we will therefore lose our investment.

Do the solar panels also generate power when it is cloudy?

Yes, it does! A solar panel produces power as soon as it is exposed to light, including diffuse light coming through the clouds. The more light falls on it, the better of course, but even during cloudy moments, solar panels generate energy (albeit much less than on a sunny summer day).

Do the solar panels work even when it is freezing?

Absolutely. As soon as there is light on the panels and they are not snowed in, sprinkled or dewired, solar panels simply function. Even in winter and at low temperatures (albeit much less than on a sunny summer day).

Are solar panels resistant to hail and storms?

Our solar panels can withstand quite extreme conditions. In addition, Brusol installs solar systems according to the rules of the art, which further reduces the risk of damage due to extreme weather conditions.

How long does an installation take?

Unless it is a very large installation, an installation is normally completed in 4 hours. However, we ask you to be available for the whole day of the installation, as we carry out several installations in one day, we cannot confirm the exact time we will arrive at your home.

Do I need to make any logistical provisions?

To facilitate the connection to the electrical panel and the inverter, we recommend and thank you in advance for clearing access before our installers arrive.

Is my roof suitable for solar panels?

After your (free) registration, we will analyse your roof with the help of satellite images.
If we cannot install the minimum number of solar panels required to recover our investment, we will send you an e-mail with the reason for closing your application.
If, on the other hand, we believe we can install a sufficient number of panels, we will contact you to explain everything.

Can I become independent from the grid with my solar panels?

No, the solar panels only work when it is clear, i.e. during the day. In the evening and when the light level is too low, all the kWh consumed are withdrawn from the grid.

I have a technical question

Is it safe to charge my car?

Our charging stations comply with the strictest regulations and conform to all the required safety provisions. With a compatible plug, it is 100% safe to charge your car at these charging stations.

What type of cable do I need to charge my car?

The vast majority of electric cars are connected to the charging station via a charging cable with a type 2 plug. This charging cable is brought by the e-driver and must fit the car. Consult the manual of your car for the right cable.

To use an ultrafast charger, you need a CCS connection on the car. EnergyDrive's ultrafast chargers have permanently installed charging cables that can be connected to well-equipped vehicles without adapters.

How long does a loading session take?

The charging time for an electric car depends on the battery, the charging technology in the vehicle, the type of charging station and the type of charging cable. In general, you can fully charge your car at a 22 kW charging station in about four hours, while you can do it in less than 15 minutes at an ultrafast charger.

What do CPO and MSP mean?

The market for electric cars and charging stations consists of various parties. There is the Charge Point Operator (CPO) and the Mobility Service Provider (MSP). The CPO takes care of the supply of the charging points, the installation and maintenance of the charging points and the breakdown service. The MSP sells mobility products and services. In this case, a subscription to the charging, the associated charging card and/or the app, and the payment for your charging sessions. EnergyDrive is both CPO and MSP.

To what percentage should I charge the battery?

For most cars, a charge level of 80% is sufficient for normal daily use. We recommend that you increase the charge limit only when driving long distances.

Why is an ultrafast charger so much faster than charging at home?

Ultrasonic chargers pass through a car's on-board charger and deliver up to 350 kW direct current (DC) directly to the battery. This power requires special transformers and mains connections that are not available in homes. The result is that a car is charged in no time: often in 15 minutes or less.

Invoice

How is the amount of my advance payment calculated?

It is calculated based on the estimated consumption of the network operator, which itself is based on your consumption history.
You can adjust your prepayment in MyBrusol (available soon).

How can I read the two-way meter?

We invite you to click on the green button of the two-way counter. On the digital display you can read the register and the index.
The different registers :
1.8.1 Day usage
1.8.2 Night consumption
2.8.1 Daytime injection
2.8.2 Night injection

When will I receive my advance invoice?

The advance invoices are sent in the middle of each month.

When is the account debited by direct debit?

On the due date of the invoice. For the advance invoice, this will always be at the beginning of the following month.

How often will I receive invoices?

You will receive a monthly advance invoice and once a year your settlement invoice after the annual meter reading.
It is possible that you will receive an interim settlement invoice (e.g. when you change your meter, when you change your meter configuration, when you change your supplier, etc.).

Can I pay my bills by bank transfer?

No, only by direct debit.

Rates

How do I make a price simulation?

By using our simulation tool (available soon).

Can I have fixed tariffs with Brusol Energy?

No, we only work with variable tariffs. The advantage is that you are not saddled with very high tariffs when the market price falls.

I want to change my meter configuration (dual to single or single to dual). What do I need to do?

You must read your meter and contact Sibelga (your network operator) to request the modification of your meter configuration. You will then receive a settlement invoice to close your tariff with the old configuration.

The costs

Will I have to bear any costs during the term of the agreement with Brusol?

We take care of all costs (installation and material failures such as the inverter) and maintenance during the term of the agreement. You benefit from the self-consumption of the solar panels from day one and for the duration of the agreement.

Do I have to pay for the panels on my roof?

No, at no time and in no way. Our experts analyse your roof using satellite images, completely free of charge. We let you know whether your roof is suitable for installation. This depends on surface area, orientation and environmental factors. If your roof is suitable, our people will come over for a technical visit. The ideal opportunity to answer all your questions. All this is free of charge.
