RSC Anderlecht is busy going green. After a greener car park with hybrid cars for its players, charging stations and 540m² of solar panels in Neerpede, the club is now going one step further.

Purple and White will be generating even more green energy thanks to solar panels on the roof of Lotto Park and the Academy. In total, the new panels are sufficient for the entire annual consumption of 250 households.

As of January 2021, match days at Lotto Park will be completely energy-neutral, even on typically Belgian grey days. In total, RSCA now has enough solar panels to cover an entire football pitch of some 7,000 m². These solar panels generate a total of more than one million kWh of green electricity per year, making RSCA the greenest football stadium in Belgium.

The installation will be built and operated for ten years by Brusol, the Brussels Region's leader in renewable energy. The Brusol workers installing the system are newcomers and former refugees from Brussels who, in cooperation with Rising You, were trained as roofers or solar panel fitters.

Karel Van Eetvelt, CEO of Anderlecht: "RSC Anderlecht switches two ecological gears and we are proud of that. I am also happy that through the cooperation with Brusol and their Rising You-trained workers we are able to offer opportunities to Brussels residents with few chances on the labour market. I would also like to thank the municipality of Anderlecht for the smooth cooperation."

Fabrice Cumps, mayor of Anderlecht and Allan Neuzy, alderman for sustainable development: "We are pleased that one of the great symbols of our municipality is taking the step towards renewable energy in such a determined way. This project, of a size rarely seen in our municipality, is important ecologically, but Sporting can also be proud socially. It is an achievement that once again underlines the quality of the relations between the municipality and the club."
