Brugel proposal for 2020: impact on residential installations

Solar panels

BRUSSELS, 06/06/2019 - The regulator Brugel has published its position on the allocation of green power certificates on PV plants starting in 2020. In order to stop the oversubsidisation of industrial PV installations, the certificates will be drastically reduced.

However, Brugel is also proposing to cut green certificates for residential PV installations. The proposal in its current version would result in installations of less than 14 panels no longer being profitable.

In the coming weeks, Brusol will inform all its customers about their personal situation.
We will do our utmost to ensure that installations can still be built, even smaller ones that are not profitable. By using the very latest solar panels (high-efficiency panels with a capacity of not 310, but 340 Wp per panel!), we will try to serve smaller roofs before the end of the year, as long as they are shadow-free.

It is a pity that Brugel does not have more positive news for the small, residential PV installations in Brussels, but 1/ we will not let our customers down and 2/ it is good that the excessive support for the big solar projects is stopped!
